Our Respone
Caritas in Veritate CiV Global” has been carefully considering and praying about our response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation.
We are a thoroughly decentralized confederation with about with teams and volunteers in many nations. We are encouraging every one of those operating locations to comply with the advice of their particular government.”
We recognize that government advice varies from nation to nation. In most cases, it means self-isolation or enforced isolation of anyone exhibiting symptoms, and screening wherever that is available. It usually means hand washing, extra cleanings, and social distancing, including limiting the size of gatherings, limiting travel and other social activities.
We are encouraging each location to have a recognized Crisis Management Team which stays up-to-date with the latest governmental advice and assures its implementation.
As our missionaries and volunteers consists mainly of local people, CiV work and ministry, in this very challenging times is continuing. These local partners, particular in the developing countries are experiencing larger pressure and demand on them. We need to continue supporting them in prayer and financially. The summer international mission trips are all suspended until further notice.
I am convinced that God is in control! Nothing has caught Him by surprise. And in the midst of it all, there are amazing opportunities, if we will look to Him in faith. What the enemy has intended for evil through COVID19, I believe God will turn and use for good, both on a corporate/CIV basis, and for each one of us individually.

The Prayer
God our Father, we look to you, asking for Your divine hand upon all of us affected by COVID-19. Surround us all with your favor like a shield. Jesus, You are the Lord of all the nations; bring us healing, deliverance, and restoration from the death, destruction, disruption, and destabilization that the outbreak has brought to the world. We pray that through the precious and holy Blood of the Lamb, shed on the cross, this pandemic should stop. Protect doctors and medical professionals and empower them to bring healing to the COVID-19 patients worldwide. Guide scientists and researchers to develop treatments, cures, and vaccines.
With the Psalmist we sing, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. … Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your habitation, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent.
(Ps 91: 1-3; 9-10)
Amen.
Thoughts
From Our Desk
Dear Friends
Today we find ourselves and the entire world caught up in a terrifying storm – the rapid spread of COVID-19. It may seem that we face it alone, that Christ sleeps while we suffer. Yet, Christ is among us. The Presence of Christ still animates our lives.
Recall the storm that the Apostles faced:
He got into a boat with his disciples…they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a storm of wind came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in danger. And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there was a calm.
– (Luke 8: 23-24)
Today, the Pope is for the most part caged in the library. In many countries church services are canceled. Not many can access the Eucharist. Schools are closed. Markets have plummeted. As of today, the novel coronavirus has already infected more than 250,000 and killed over 10,000 in 177 countries around the globe.
At Caritas in Veritate Global we encourage everyone to take precaution to protect his health and the health of his neighbor – but also to take spiritual precaution never to bow to the fear and the panic that threaten to blind us to the peace of Christ. God, Who created Heaven and Earth, is always greater than what unfolds in His Creation. The peoples and nations impacted by the virus – all who suffer and all who fear – belong to God. He can save us and will save us in accord with His loving Will.
In the name of Jesus,
we pray for the healing and full recovery of those affected by COVID-19.
we pray for God’s comfort for those who have lost loved ones to this pandemic.
we pray that God will intervene to save rescue those who are perishing.
we pray that He will protect and guide with His wisdom the doctors and health care professionals on the frontlines.
we pray that He will provide in time and in abundance every insight, every act, and all the supplies necessary to overcome the pandemic.
we pray for all who suffer indirectly from the pandemic: employees and employers who face great economic challenges – that they not lose heart but turn to God’s infinite mercy.
we pray that God will restore all that has been lost and bless us with prosperity.
In the name of Jesus, we submit our lives, our families, our projects, and our futures to God. Through trust in Him, we fortify ourselves against the temptations to panic and to fear.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
– (James 4: 7-8)
We pray that the light of Christ will dawn upon all who live in darkness and fear, beset by panic and anxiety and the shadow of death, that He will restore them in hope and in peace.
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control…
– (2 Tim 1:7)
We pray for students whose educations have been interrupted and all others who travel, that they seize the opportunity to return to God who beckons them home.
Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you; I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
– (Isaiah 43:5-7)
We pray for the collaboration among governments, organizations, churches, industries, businesses, researchers and academics, medical professionals, and all people of good will, guided by the wisdom of God, in assisting those affected by the pandemic and in restoring hope and peace for all.
